What Is Biorock?
The Biorock™ method is the only method known that produces Calcium Carbonate, a natural substrate all coral species prefer to settle on. Biorock™ accelerates coral growth and resistance to stressful environments.
The process utilizes DC electric or solar energy to directly stimulate corals allowing them to survive in adverse conditions, and allowing reefs to be restored where they cannot recover naturally. Biorock™ structures provide superior habitat for fish, and shellfish. Projects in the Maldives have stopped shore erosion and grown 15 meters of new beachfront in a few years. Projects in Indonesia house more corals and fish than natural coral reefs around them, making them prize-winning eco-tourism attractions.
